It is with profound sadness and feelings of shock and pain that we report that our colleague Mike Waterman, the chair of Norwich branch of the PSC, died suddenly at home on Friday 19th February 2021. Mike had been ill with Covid-19 for a few days.

Over many years and in many different ways, Mike campaigned tirelessly for human rights. As well as his work for the Palestine Solidarity Campaign here in Norwich and also previously in Brighton, Mike was also a passionate supporter of “Stand up to Racism” and “Black lives Matter”.

Mike was frequently described as “tenacious”. We agree with that description but would also add “energetic and spirited” and he will be missed. Because he set himself such high standards, Mike was a source of strength and encouragement to those around him. And that spirit will be missed by many.

Typically, Mike had asked that instead of a funeral, he wanted his fellow PSC members and friends to give money to Medical Aid for Palestinians in order to help their work.
